Mercado Libre is the leading e-commerce and fintech platform in Latin America, offering a variety of services and products such as Marketplace, payment systems, logistics services, and loan and credit services for its users. They have a presence in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, and other countries.

Challenge

Mercado Libre needed an efficient solution to manage employee clock-in and clock-out times, reduce payroll errors, improve overtime management, and adapt to the diverse geographies in which it operates.

Solution

Ataway Argentina deeply explored Mercado Libre’s operational processes to better understand the critical points and areas requiring optimization. We proposed and implemented the UKG Pro WFM (Timekeeping/Accruals) modules. The solution included:

Module Implementation: UKG Timekeeping and Accruals across LATAM.

Location Integration: In Mexico and service centers in Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and the Chile CAD.

Payroll Cycle Configuration: Adapted to the specific laws of each country.

SAP Integration: And custom developments for integration with other internal Mercado Libre systems.

eClock Implementation: For tablets in small or satellite sites in various locations across Latin America.

Key User Training: To ensure efficient system usage.

Results and Benefits

A highlight of this project was the implementation of the “eClock” clock-in application developed by Ataway. This application can be installed on peripheral devices such as Android mobiles and tablets, facilitating time logging from any location and reducing infrastructure costs.

Conclusions

Thanks to the effective implementation of the UKG Pro modules by Ataway Argentina, Mercado Libre achieved efficient automation of its time and attendance processes, improving payroll accuracy and employee productivity. The project not only met its initial objectives but also established a solid foundation for future expansions and continuous improvements in Mercado Libre’s workforce management.
